Hi, we’re Kim and Arabella, the co-founders of SoloTrvlr. That’s us in the photo.
2024 was a year of change—for all of us. A whirlwind of shifts in technology, culture, and the way we want to connect with each other and the world around us. For SoloTrvlr, it was also transformative. If you haven’t heard from us in a while, it’s because we’ve been hard at work, making big, bold changes to set SoloTrvlr on an exciting new path.
Pivot, pivot, pivot 🛋️
When we launched SoloTrvlr, we followed the usual playbook: we built a subscription-based app full of travel advice.
After spending 2023 in Expedia’s accelerator, we spent 2024 testing, iterating, and listening.
We learned a lot.
It turns out the app itself wasn’t the solution. The real value? The network of incredible, insightful women who rallied around our idea. They weren’t just users; they were experts with lived experiences and valuable local knowledge to share.
ChatGPT, give me an itinerary for Rome 🤦🏻♀️
The last 18 months have been a wild ride in tech. AI has unlocked incredible capabilities, processing massive amounts of data in milliseconds.
But here’s the problem, especially in travel: that data is only as good as its sources—and so much of the data that LLMs are trained on is biased, unreliable, or outdated.
And that leaves many travelers frustrated and overwhelmed.
It turns out you can’t just aggregate data to answer travelers’ needs. What’s missing is the human experience—the nuance, the lived insights, the personal and timely intel from people who have taken the time to truly get under the surface of a place and know its innate character, along with all of its quirks (both endearing and infuriating).
Because travel isn’t just about seeing “the sights.” It’s about those moments that change you, that shift your perspective enough to see the world—and, if you’re lucky, yourself—through a different, more expansive lens.
Those experiences come from humans, not algorithms.
What We Built—and What’s Next 🚀
SoloTrvlr pairs independent travelers with vetted Local Advisors for insider advice you won’t find on Google, ChatGPT, or Reddit—delivered in a private 1:1 consultation over chat or video.
A global travel network, powered by actual humans 👭
As AI became mainstream, it became clear that real human advice—tailored, current, and deeply personal—was getting harder to find, not easier. Like: finding that tucked-away wine bar in Rome where everyone’s watching the match, drinking Chianti, and yelling in Italian.
That’s why we’ve doubled down on what makes travel transformational: the people.
Behind SoloTrvlr is a growing network of vetted Local Advisors: the women we all want on speed dial when we travel. They’re the ones with spreadsheets, Google Docs, and insider tips that transform trips, like recommending you order a dish that’s not on the menu.
A marketplace for real, personalized travel advice—anywhere 🌎
Over the past few months, we’ve helped women travel confidently to the South of France, the Greek Islands, Egypt, New York, Toronto, and beyond.
Our Local Advisors answered hundreds of questions, shared hidden gems, and saved travelers hours of research time—all while creating meaningful connections.
We already cover 50 destinations. This year, we’re planning to expand that 10x to 500 to reach even more travelers, while introducing exciting new partnerships, like our recent SoloTrvlr x CitizenM giveaway.
Join Us on This Journey ✈️
We’re building something special that prioritizes human connection in an increasingly automated world while fairly compensating local women for sharing the insider tips and experiences they’ve gained from truly getting to know a place.
